"THE KOOKS: NOT YOUNG ENOUGH TO KNOW EVERYTHING."

If you haven't been listening to The Kooks for the last few years, you should listen to them. No wonder "LISTEN" is the name of their latest album, published in 2014. And once you've listened to the new songs, you get it. Their sound is significantly more mature, and full of references to different music styles, such as soul gospel, R'n'B, disco, or even jazz.

Even though they are humble enough to say that working with Inflo as a producer helped them in following this new path, I feel the need to give most of the credit to them. With "Listen" they are telling us that they are still working to be better. And if you're any good as a musician, that's what you do: listen to different musics and never stop working on your own stuff. While other bands ask for silly things on their backstage riders, The Kooks ask for a vinyl LP chosen by the promoter. And apparently they also want socks. But that's not too bad.

On stage they put on a hell of a good show. I've seen the band four times this past year, and I'll get to see them again in Granada (Spain) in a few weeks. This is their biggest tour yet, and although they have a pretty set playlist, there's still a bit of jamming around and having fun on stage, as it should be. The crowds are always begging for more, we can't get enough of them!
